Pulque

Okay kiddo, let's talk about a drink called pulque.

Pulque is a special drink that comes from Mexico. People have been drinking it for a very long time - even before the Spanish came to Mexico!

To make pulque, you need a special plant called the agave plant. This plant has big, spiky leaves that look like they could hurt you if you touch them! But people have found a way to use this plant to make something delicious.

First, they cut off the leaves and harvest the sap (a fancy word for the liquid) that's inside. This sap is put into a big container and left to ferment. This means it sits there for a while and changes into something else - kind of like when grapes turn into wine!

After a little while, the pulque is ready to drink! It looks kind of like milk, but it's not as thick. And it doesn't taste like milk either! Some people say it tastes sour or tangy, while others say it's sweet.

When you drink pulque, you might feel a little bit funny. That's because it has some alcohol in it! But don't worry, it's not too much. Pulque is actually lower in alcohol than other drinks like beer or wine.

Some people really love pulque and drink it all the time. Others don't like the taste as much. But either way, it's an important part of Mexican culture and history!
