Purple America
Okay kiddo, have you ever seen a map of the United States with different colors on it? Some areas are blue, some are red, and some might even be purple. That's what we call "purple America." It's not actually a real place, it's just a way of talking about how different parts of the country have different political beliefs.
You might have heard grown-ups talking about Democrats or Republicans. Those are two different political parties in the United States. People who are Democrats generally think that the government should help people more, while people who are Republicans generally think that the government should help people less.
In some parts of the country, most people are Democrats. Those areas are usually blue on the map. In other parts of the country, most people are Republicans. Those areas are usually red on the map. But in some areas, there are almost equal numbers of Democrats and Republicans. Those areas are purple on the map.
