Quantile regression

Quantile regression is a fancy way to find out what the middle number is in a bunch of numbers. Let's say you have a bunch of friends and you all took a test. You know what everyone got, but you want to know what the middle score is.

The first thing you do is put all the scores in order from lowest to highest. Then, you look right in the middle and see what score that is. That's the median score.

But what if you want to know what score is in the middle of the top half of the scores? Or the bottom half? That's where quantile regression comes in.

Quantile regression helps you find the middle score for any part of the group. You can find the middle score for the top 10% of the group, or the middle score for the bottom 25%. It's like finding the median, but for different parts of the numbers.

This is really helpful in a lot of different areas, like economics, where you might want to know the median income for different groups of people. It helps us understand more about the data we have and make better decisions.
