Quaternary glaciation

Hello there! Do you know what a glacier is? It's like a big sheet of ice and snow that covers an area of land. Now, a long time ago, there was a time period when the Earth was very cold and a lot of the land was covered in glaciers. This time period is called the Quaternary glaciation.

It happened about 2.6 million years ago and ended about 11,700 years ago. During this time, big parts of the Earth were covered in ice and the oceans were lower because the water was frozen in the glaciers. This made it possible for people and animals to walk across land that is now covered by water.

Scientists have studied this time period and found out a lot of interesting things about how the Earth's climate has changed over time. They also study glaciers today to understand how they are changing because of climate change. It's important to learn about the Quaternary glaciation so we can better understand the history of our planet and how to take care of it for the future.
