Race in the United States criminal justice system

Race in the United States criminal justice system means that people of different races can be treated differently and unfairly in the criminal justice system. For example, if a black person and a white person do the same crime they may be treated differently by the police or by the courts. Sometimes, this means that the black person may get punished more harshly than the white person even though both people did the same thing. This is not fair and it is an important problem in the United States.
