Racism against African Americans
Racism is when people treat someone badly or unfairly just because of the color of their skin. African Americans are people who have black or brown skin and are often treated unfairly because of this.
A long time ago, African Americans were brought to America as slaves. This means that they were forced to work hard without getting paid or treated nicely. Even though slavery ended a long time ago, African Americans are still treated unfairly today.
Sometimes people say mean things or use hurtful words when talking to or about African Americans. They may also not give African Americans the same chances or opportunities as other people.
