ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Raising Race Questions

When we talk about people, sometimes we talk about the way they look or where their family comes from. This is called race. Some people have a different race than others, and that's okay! It's important to remember that everyone is different and that's what makes the world special.

When we ask questions about someone's race, it's important to do it in a respectful way. We might want to know more about their culture or traditions, or we might just be curious about their background. But we need to make sure we're not asking in a mean or hurtful way.

If we're not sure how to ask a question about someone's race, it's okay to ask a grown-up for help. They can help us figure out the right words to use and make sure we're showing respect to the person we're talking to.

Overall, it's important to remember that everyone deserves to be treated with kindness and respect, no matter what their race or background may be.
