Rasa Lila is an ancient Hindu dance. In Hindu mythology, it is said that Lord Krishna and the gopis, or shepherdesses, danced together in the moonlight. The word Rasa Lila literally means "the divine dance of bliss." People perform this dance during Hindu festivals as a way to remember the love between Lord Krishna and the gopis. During the dance, people act out stories about Lord Krishna's life and usually wear bright clothing and special jewelry. The dance involves two people taking turns spinning, twirling, and dancing around each other to upbeat music. At times the dancers do gentle movements and at other times they move in more exuberant ways. The whole point of the dance is to have a lot of fun.
