Rear mid-engine, rear-wheel drive layout

Okay kiddo, so when we talk about a car's layout, we basically mean how it's put together and how the different parts are arranged.

In a rear mid-engine, rear-wheel drive layout, the engine is located in the middle of the car, but towards the back instead of the front. This means that the engine is closer to the rear wheels than the front wheels.

Now, because the engine is located towards the back, this makes it easier for the car to have what's called "rear-wheel drive." This means that the power from the engine is sent to the back wheels, and those wheels are the ones that push the car forward.

So in this type of car, the engine is in the middle of the car but towards the back, and the power from the engine goes to the back wheels to make the car move. This can make for some pretty cool driving experiences, like sharper turns and better acceleration.
