Rear-inflow jet

A rear-inflow jet is like when you blow air into a straw and bubbles come out at the other end. In a plane, there is a special part at the back called an engine. The engine blows out air really fast to make the plane go forward. But sometimes the air that the engine blows out can be messy and not very neat, so scientists and engineers made something called a rear-inflow jet.

It's like a special air curtain that surrounds the back of the engine so that the air that comes out of the engine doesn't mix with the air outside the plane. This way, the air that comes out of the engine is in a tidy and organized stream which helps the plane fly better and more efficiently.

So, imagine that you're playing with a sprinkler and sometimes the water shoots in all different directions, making a big mess. But if you put a hose around the sprinkler to make a neat circle of water, then the water sprays out in an organized and efficient way. That's what a rear-inflow jet does for a plane!
