Reclaimed water is water that has been treated so that it can be reused for things like watering plants or flushing toilets, instead of being discarded. When we use water in our homes, it goes down the drain or toilet and enters the sewer system. This used water then goes to a wastewater treatment plant where it is cleaned and disinfected. Reclaimed water is taken from the treatment plant and goes through an additional cleaning process to remove any extra particles or germs that could harm plants or people. The cleaned water can then be used for non-potable activities like irrigation, in which it is sprayed onto plants or absorbed into the ground to help them grow. Reclaimed water is a good way to conserve water and make sure that we are using this precious resource as efficiently as possible.
