Reconciliation Movement in 1990

Okay kiddo, in 1990, there was something called the reconciliation movement. It was all about trying to make peace between different groups of people who had been fighting for a long time.

You see, in South Africa, there were two main groups of people: white people and black people. For a long time, the white people were in charge and they treated the black people very unfairly. They didn't let them have the same rights as white people and they made them live in separate areas.

This made the black people very angry and they started to protest and fight back. They wanted to be treated with respect like everyone else.

But, after many years of fighting, things started to change. A man named Nelson Mandela, who had been in jail for a long time because he was fighting for the rights of black people, was released from prison. He became a leader of the black people and he wanted to make peace with the white people.

So, they started something called the reconciliation movement. They got together and talked about how they could make things better between the white and black people. They tried to understand each other and forgive each other for the past.

It wasn't easy, and there were still some people who didn't want to change, but slowly things started to get better. The black people were given more rights and were allowed to live and work wherever they wanted.

The reconciliation movement helped bring peace to South Africa and showed that even when people have differences, they can still come together and make things better.
