Reconquista

Alright kiddo, let's talk about the Reconquista! So a long time ago in Spain, there were people called Moors who came from North Africa and took over most of the land. They had a different religion called Islam, and many Spaniards didn't like that. They wanted their land back and to be able to practice their own religion, Christianity.

So, the Reconquista was the period between the 8th century and the 15th century when the Christian kingdoms in Spain tried to take back their land from the Moors. It was a long and difficult process, but little by little, the Christian kingdoms started to win back territory.

The most famous battle during the Reconquista was the Battle of Granada. In 1492, the Christian kingdom of Castile and Aragon finally defeated the last Moorish kingdom, Granada. It was a big victory, and it marked the end of the Reconquista.

Overall, the Reconquista was a very important time in Spanish history. It helped shape the country into what it is today, and it shows how determined people can be to fight for what they believe in.
