ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Red-red-green coalition

A red-red-green coalition is when three different groups of people come together to try and make important decisions for their community.

"Red" refers to a group of people who generally believe in things like workers' rights, fairness, and equality. Think of the color red like a traffic light that says "stop" - these people want to make sure everyone is treated fairly and nobody is left behind.

"Green" refers to a different group of people, who believe in taking care of the environment and protecting animals and nature. They want to make sure our planet stays healthy and safe for all living things. Think of the color green like a park or a forest - these people want to keep those places clean and healthy.

So when these two groups, red and green, come together it's called a "red-green coalition". They share some ideas about how to make the world better, even though they have different focuses.

But there's a third group, too - the "green" group isn't the only group concerned with the environment. Some people say "green" instead of "yellow" when they talk about traffic lights, and these people belong to another group called "yellow". These people are kind of a crossover between "red" and "green" - they're concerned about issues like workers' rights AND the environment. So when we add the "yellow" group to the "red-green coalition", it becomes a "red-red-green" coalition.

So that's what a red-red-green coalition is - it's when people who care about workers' rights, the environment, and social justice come together to make important decisions. It's like three different colored pieces of paper being glued together to make a new, stronger piece of paper!
