ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Reduced relative clause

Okay kiddo, have you ever described a person or a thing using some extra information? Let me give you an example: If I say "The dog that chased the ball is my neighbor's pet", I am giving you some extra information about the dog which is it chased the ball. But sometimes, we want to give that same extra information in a shorter way. And that's what we call "Reduced Relative Clause", which is basically a shortcut to give a description about someone or something. Instead of saying "the dog that chased the ball", we can say "the ball-chasing dog". It's like making an abbreviation to make our sentences shorter and easier to say. Does that make sense?
