Refractive surgery

Refractive surgery is a type of eye surgery that helps people see better without needing glasses or contacts. It's like a special operation that changes the shape of your eyes so that light can focus better on the back of your eye where your brain can see it.

If you have a problem with your eyes that makes it hard to see clearly, like nearsightedness or farsightedness, your eye doctor may recommend refractive surgery. They will talk to you about the different types of surgery you can have and which one is best for you.

During the surgery, the doctor will use special tools to reshape the front part of your eye. This can involve using a laser to make tiny adjustments to the shape of your cornea or inserting a special lens inside your eye. The purpose of this is to change the way that light enters your eye so that it focuses properly and makes objects appear clearer.

The surgery itself is usually done while you are awake but your eye will be numbed so you don't feel any pain. After the surgery, you may need to wear an eye patch or use special eye drops for a few days to help your eye heal.

Refractive surgery is a great way to improve your vision if you have problems with your eyesight. It may take some time for your eyes to fully adjust but once they do, you should be able to see much more clearly and enjoy life without needing glasses or contacts.
