Refried beans

Refried beans are a type of Mexican food that look a lot like a thick paste or mashed potatoes. They are called "refried" because they are actually made from cooked and mashed beans that have been fried two times.

First, the dry beans are soaked in water overnight to make them soft. Then they are boiled with onions, garlic, and other spices until they are very tender. After the beans are drained, they are mashed into a paste.

Next, the mashed beans are fried in a pan with oil, onions, and more spices until they are golden brown and have a slightly crispy texture on the outside. This is the first fry.

Finally, the beans are mashed again and fried a second time, with even more oil, until they are very smooth and creamy. This is the second fry, and it's what makes them "refried".

Refried beans are often served as a side dish with tacos, burritos, or nachos, but they are also delicious on their own. They are a good source of protein and fiber, and they are very filling.

Overall, refried beans are a tasty and nutritious part of Mexican cuisine that many people enjoy. They are made from beans that have been cooked, mashed, and fried two times, and they can be served with a variety of different dishes.
