Regional hegemony

Regional hegemony is when one country in a region (area of the world) is stronger and more influential than the other countries. For example, if there are five countries in one region, and one country is bigger and more powerful than the other four, that country could be considered the regional hegemon. That means that it has more control and power over what happens in the region.
