Release liner

Do you know when you put a big sticker on something and there's a kind of paper or plastic that the sticker is stuck to, but you can peel it off easily? That's what we call a release liner. It's like a cover for the sticky part of the sticker.

When people make stickers, they often use machines that put the sticky part (also called "adhesive") on a special kind of paper or plastic. That paper or plastic is really smooth and often has a kind of coating on it to help things not stick to it. This helps the sticker stay nice and neat until someone wants to put it on something.

But, the trick is that people want to be able to get the sticky part off the liner easily, without messing up the sticker. So, the paper or plastic that the sticker is stuck to is meant to be peeled off easily, and that's what we call the release liner.

So, when you get a sticker, you can thank the release liner for making it easy to stick!
