ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry Society

Alright kiddo, so have you ever looked at a picture of the Earth from space? Maybe you've seen pictures taken by satellites or astronauts on the International Space Station. Well, when we use technology like that to look at the Earth from far away, it's called remote sensing.

So, let's say we want to study the land and water on the Earth's surface. We can use a bunch of different tools like cameras, lasers, and radar to capture information from space. This information helps us create maps and models of things like forests, rivers, and cities.

Now, photogrammetry is a super cool part of remote sensing that helps us make 3D models of things on the Earth's surface. Imagine taking a bunch of pictures of a toy car from different angles. When you put those pictures together, you can see the car as if it were really there in front of you. That's kind of like what photogrammetry does for the Earth.

So, the Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry Society is a group of people who study and use all these technologies to learn more about the Earth. They're kind of like a big club where people who love space and science can get together and share their ideas and discoveries. They also work to make sure we use these tools in a way that's safe and protects the environment.

Pretty cool stuff, huh? Maybe one day you'll be a member of the Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry Society too!
