ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Remote deposit

Remote deposit is when you can deposit money into your bank account without actually going to the bank. It's like using a magic machine that lets you put money into your bank account by taking a picture of a check on your phone or computer.

So, let's say someone gives you a check for your birthday. Instead of going to the bank to cash it, you can use a special app (that your bank provides) on your phone or computer to take a picture of the front and back of the check. Then, you just send the picture to the bank and they deposit the money into your account.

It's kind of like sending a virtual message to the bank telling them to put the money in your account without actually having to go there in person. This can be really helpful if you don't have time to go to the bank or don't live near a bank. Just be careful to follow all the instructions and make sure the pictures are clear so the bank can read the check and deposit the money correctly.
