Repechage

Okay kiddo, imagine there's this really cool race with boats. The boats are all lined up and ready to start. But in the first round of the race, some boats are too slow and get left behind. That's okay, though, because they still want to keep racing and maybe they'll do better in the next round.

So, the race officials have a plan for this. It's called repechage (pronounced "rep-uh-sharge"), which is just a fancy word for a second chance. The boats that didn't do well in the first round get to race again in the repechage.

In the repechage, the boats race against each other just like they did in the first round. But this time, the winner gets to move on to the next round of the race, even if they were too slow in the first round. That's pretty cool, right? It's like a second chance to try and do better.

So, in summary, a repechage is a way for boats (or sometimes other sports teams) to get a second chance at competing after they didn't do well in the first round. The winner of the repechage gets to keep racing, even if they weren't as fast as the winners in the first round.
