Republic of Texas (group)

Okay kiddo, so back in the olden days, there was a place called Texas that used to be a part of another country called Mexico. But some folks who were living in Texas didn't want to be a part of Mexico anymore, so they decided to make their own country called the Republic of Texas.

This group of people who made the Republic of Texas wanted to have their own government and laws, just like any other country. They even had their own president, flag, and army!

But after a little while, the Republic of Texas decided to join the United States of America instead. So now, Texas is a state in the U.S. of A.
