Reserve Officers' Training Corps

Reserve Officers' Training Corps, or ROTC for short, is a program that teaches college students how to be leaders in the military.

It works kind of like a school club - students who want to join ROTC sign up and attend classes and trainings outside of their regular college classes. They learn things like how to use weapons, how to work together as a team, and how to be good leaders.

ROTC is sponsored by the military, so the students are trained to become officers in either the Army, Navy, Air Force, or Marines. Being an officer is kind of like being a boss in the military - they give orders to the soldiers and help plan missions.

Students who complete the program and graduate college can choose to serve in the military as officers, or they can pursue other careers. But even if they don't become military officers, they will have learned important skills like leadership and teamwork that can help them in any job or career.
