Restoration (Latter Day Saints)

Restoration is when something that was lost or broken is fixed or returned to its original state. In the context of Latter-day Saints, or Mormons, restoration refers to the belief that after Jesus Christ's death and resurrection, his original church on earth eventually became corrupted and lost important teachings and practices over time. Mormons believe that Joseph Smith, a prophet, was called by God to restore Christ's original teachings and church structure. This included establishing a priesthood authority and teaching doctrines such as baptism by immersion and the importance of living prophets. Restoration is a central belief in the faith of Latter-day Saints as it provides guidance and direction for how to live according to God's plan.
