ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Retro screening

Retro screening is like going back in time to check something that happened in the past. Imagine you have a time machine and you go back to a time when dinosaurs were roaming the Earth. You want to know what color the dinosaurs were. But when you go back, you don't have a camera with you to take pictures. So instead, you have to find clues to figure out their color.

In the real world, people use retro screening to study things that happened a long time ago. They look for clues too, but instead of looking for dinosaur colors, they might look at old movies, photos, or documents. Let's say scientists want to study how air pollution has changed over time. They might look at old pictures of cities and compare them to new pictures to see if the air looks different.

Retro screening can also be used by police to solve crimes. Just like a detective, they have to look for clues. Imagine someone stole your favorite toy, and you want to find out who did it. The police would go back in time to when it happened by asking people questions and looking for evidence. They might even look at videos from security cameras to see if they can find the thief.

So, retro screening is like being a time traveler and going back in time to study something that happened a long time ago. You have to look for clues and use your detective skills to figure out what you want to know. It can be really exciting and helps us learn more about our world!
