ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Review journal

Imagine you have a notebook in which you write your thoughts, ideas, and make drawings. Now, imagine that you want someone else to read your notebook and tell you what they think about it. That person might have some good ideas on how you can make your notebook even better, or they might say they really like what you've written.

That's kind of what a review journal is like. It's like a notebook for scientists, where they write about their experiments and research. But instead of just one person reading it, a lot of people who are interested in the same topic will read it.

This helps other scientists who are also doing research in that area to learn from each other, and to build on what has already been discovered. It's like a big conversation that scientists have, where they talk about what they've found, and then other scientists add their own thoughts and ideas.

The people who read the review journal also give feedback to the scientist who wrote the article. They might say that they think the scientist did a really good job, or that they have some suggestions to make the experiment better.

A review journal is an important tool for scientists because it helps them share their discoveries with other people who are interested in the same thing.
