Rhinotomy is a big word that means cutting open your nose. This might sound scary, but it's actually done to help fix problems with your nose so you can breathe better or to fix any injuries you might have had.
First, the doctor will give you medicine so you don't feel pain during the procedure. Then, they will make a small cut on the outside or inside of your nose depending on what needs to be fixed.
They might need to fix your nasal septum, which is the wall between your nostrils that helps you breathe. If it's crooked or blocking your airway, the doctor will straighten or remove it.
They might also need to fix your turbinates, which are little structures inside your nose that warm and moisten the air you breathe. If they are too big, the doctor might need to make them smaller so you can breathe easier.
Once everything is fixed, the doctor will close up the cut with stitches, and you will go home to rest and heal. It might take a little while to feel better, but after your nose heals, you should be able to breathe better and feel much better too!
