ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Rich picture

Well, imagine you're drawing a really big and colorful picture about something that's really important to you. Maybe it's your family or your favorite place to play. You'd use a lot of colors and draw a lot of things in your picture, like trees or animals. And you might even use some words to help explain what's going on in your picture.

That's kind of what a rich picture is, except grown-ups use it to help explain complicated ideas or problems. They draw a picture with lots of details and colors to help them think about everything that's involved in the idea or problem. They might draw people or buildings or symbols to represent different parts of the idea or problem. Then, they can look at the picture and really see and understand everything that's going on.

It's like when you draw a picture to show your mom or dad what you did at school that day. The picture helps your mom or dad understand what you did and how you felt about it. The rich picture helps grown-ups understand complicated ideas and problems in the same way.
