ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Right to disconnect

Alright, kiddo. Remember how sometimes Mommy and Daddy or your teacher might tell you to put your toys away or stop playing and come to bed? Well, grown-ups have to work just like how you have to go to school or tidy up your playthings.

But sometimes when grown-ups are done with their work, they might still get messages or emails from their boss or co-workers telling them to do more work or answer some questions. That can be really stressful for grown-ups because they might feel like they can't fully relax and enjoy their free time.

So some people have decided that it's important to have a "right to disconnect." This means that once a person finishes their work for the day, they shouldn't have to answer messages or emails related to work during their free time. It's kind of like how when you're done with school or playtime, you don't have to keep thinking about those things until later. Grown-ups should be able to focus on time with their family, friends, and hobbies without constantly worrying about work.
