Ring counter

A ring counter is a type of circuit that counts in a repeating pattern around a loop. It uses a series of interconnected flip-flops to make a “circle”. Every time a signal is sent to the circuit, the flip-flops switch states like stepping stones. When it gets back to the first flip-flop, a new count has been made and the process repeats. It is like a wheel that is turned one step at a time, and each step is a count.
