Have you ever seen a ring on your mom's finger? A ring system is kind of like that, but instead of being on someone's finger, it's in space around some planets!
Basically, a ring system is made up of a bunch of small pieces of rock and dust that orbit (go around) a planet in a circle. These pieces of rock and dust are all different sizes and shapes and are spread out around the planet in a circle.
You can think of it like a big circular belt around the planet. Just like how you have different toys inside your toy box, the pieces in the ring system are all different too. Some of these pieces might even be as tiny as a grain of sand!
Ring systems happen when there are a lot of rocks and dust left over after a planet forms. Instead of clumping together to make another planet, they just keep going around the planet in a circle.
So next time you see a ring on someone's finger, remember that there are also ring systems out in space!
