River to River Relay

Okay kiddo, have you ever watched a race like a relay where a team passes a baton to each other to get to the finish line? Well, imagine teams doing that, but instead of running around a track, they are running across the whole state of Illinois!

This is called the River to River Relay. It starts at the Mississippi River and ends at the Ohio River. Along the way, runners take turns running 36 legs of the race, with each leg being about 3-8 miles long. The team with the fastest time wins the race.

The cool thing about this race is that it takes runners through lots of different towns and scenery in Illinois. One leg might be through a forest, and another might go through a city. The runner has to be ready for all different types of terrain and weather!

It's kind of like a big adventure for the runners, and lots of people come out to cheer them on. It takes teamwork, endurance, and lots of energy to finish the River to River Relay, but it's a fun challenge for those who love to run!
