ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Robot-sumo

Robot-sumo is like playing a game of pushing and shoving with toy robots. Imagine a big circular arena, where you and your friends place your tiny toy robots. Your robots are programmed and designed to push all other robots outside the arena. The one who is left in the circle is the winner, yay!

Now imagine a bigger version of this game with bigger robots. It's a competition where engineers build robots and set them on the arena. These robots have sensors, motors, and other cool stuff that makes them move, detect other robots, and push them out of the ring. The winner is the robot that can push all other robots out of the circle, or the one that stays inside the circle after all the other robots are gone.

Robot-sumo also has rules. Robots cannot damage other robots, so they don't have knives or pointed edges. Their weight and size are also limited, so that they're all in the same level field. It's like making sure that everyone has the same chance to win, whether they're big or small, fast or slow.

So, in summary, robot-sumo is a game where robots try to push each other out of a circle, just like toy robots, but in a bigger and more sophisticated competition. It's lots of fun to watch and learn how engineers make robots move and think.
