Okay kiddo, imagine you're playing with building blocks. You have one big block and then a smaller block that you put on top of the big one. Well, rocks work kind of like building blocks too! Sometimes, nature stacks rocks on top of each other. This can happen in lots of different ways. Maybe the wind blows a smaller rock on top of a bigger one. Maybe a river flowing past moves rocks around until they end up piled on top of each other.
No matter how it happens, when one rock is sitting on top of another rock, scientists call it a "rock stack." Sometimes people like to make rock stacks too! They might stack up rocks as a kind of art or just because they think it looks cool.
Now, just like with building blocks, if the rocks in a rock stack aren't balanced just right, they might fall over. But if they're stable and in just the right position, they can stay there for a really long time!
