Roerich Pact

The Roerich Pact is a treaty signed in 1935 by different countries from around the world. The countries promised to treat artistic and scientific institutions and historic monuments with respect and protect them from destruction in times of war and peace. The treaty also promised to protect cultural artifacts like artwork, books, and monuments from being taken away as spoils of war. The countries signed this treaty because they wanted to make sure that important parts of their cultures and histories stay safe and are respected and appreciated.
