Roman Kingdom

Hi there! Today, we're going to learn about the Roman Kingdom, which was a long, long time ago in ancient Italy.

A kingdom is kind of like a big family, where there is one person who is in charge, and everyone else listens to them. In the case of the Roman Kingdom, the person who was in charge was called a king.

The very first king of Rome was a man named Romulus. He and his brother, Remus, were raised by a she-wolf and grew up to found the city of Rome. Romulus became the first king of the city and he ruled for many years.

During the Roman Kingdom, the king had a lot of power. He was in charge of making laws, leading the military, and making decisions about how the city should be run. The people who lived in Rome looked up to the king and did what he said.

The Roman Kingdom didn't last forever, though. After a while, the people who lived in Rome started to get tired of having just one person in charge. They wanted their own say in how things were done. So, eventually, they got rid of the king and started a new form of government called a republic.

So, to sum it up, during the Roman Kingdom, there was one person in charge, called the king. The king had a lot of power and made all the big decisions for the city. But eventually, the people wanted more say in how things were run, so they got rid of the king and started a new form of government.
