Roman triumphal honours

When the Romans went to war, they wanted to show everyone that they were big, strong, and powerful. When they won the war, they would have a big party called a "triumph." This party was like a parade, and everyone in the city would come to watch.

The leader of the army, called the "general," would get dressed up in fancy clothes and ride in a big chariot. He would be followed by soldiers who were carrying all of the cool stuff they had taken from the enemy, like statues and gold.

People would line the streets and cheer for the general and the soldiers. They would also sing songs and play music. It was a really big deal!

After the parade, the general would get a special prize called a "triumphal honor." This was like a big trophy that showed everyone that he was the best. It was a really important trophy, and the general was really proud to have it.

So, a "triumph" was a big party after a war that showed how strong the Romans were, and a "triumphal honor" was a special trophy that the general got to show off how awesome he was.
