Romance scam

Okay, so have you ever played dress up or pretended to be someone else? Well, there are some people who pretend to be someone else on the phone or on the Internet. They talk to people who are looking for love and pretend to be the perfect boyfriend or girlfriend. They say all the things that the other person wants to hear like "I love you", "you're beautiful/handsome", and "we were meant to be together forever."

The problem is that these people are not who they say they are. They are not really looking for love, they are looking for something else. When someone falls in love with them, they start asking for money. They might say they need it for a plane ticket to come visit or for a medical emergency.

The person who fell in love might want to help, but it's important to be careful. Sometimes the person asking for money is not who they say they are. They might be a criminal trying to trick people out of their money. This is called a romance scam.

It's important to always be careful when talking to people on the Internet or on the phone that you don't know. Never give them money, no matter how much you care about them. It's always better to be safe than sorry!
