Rope pump

A rope pump is like a big straw you put in water to suck it up and make it come out at the top. But instead of using your mouth to suck, you use a long rope that goes around special wheels at the top and bottom of the pump.

Here's how it works: first, you need to dig a hole in the ground that is deep enough to reach the water. Then, you put the bottom of the pump (which has a filter to keep out dirt and leaves) in the water.

The rope is tied to a bucket or other container at the top of the pump. You start by pulling hard on the rope, which moves around the wheels and pulls the container down towards the water. When it reaches the bottom, a valve opens and the water fills up the container.

Now, you stop pulling on the rope and let it go. The full container will slowly rise back up to the top because of the weight of the water inside it. As it gets higher, the valve closes and the water stays in the container.

When the container reaches the top, you can pour out the water into a bucket or other container for use. Then, you start the process over again by pulling the rope to bring the empty container back down to the water.

Rope pumps are a great way to get water from deep wells or other underground sources. They are also easy to make and maintain, so they are often used in developing countries where access to clean water is limited.
