ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Roque

Roque is a game that is a little bit like playing chess, but it's played on a smaller board with fewer pieces. It's named after a French game called croquet, and it's been around for a long time.

The game is played with two players, and each player has four pieces that they move around the board. The pieces are called "rovers," and they look like chess pieces, but with little hats on top.

The goal of the game is to score points by knocking your opponent's pieces off the board. You do this by hitting their rovers with your rovers, and then moving your rover onto the space where their rover used to be. If you knock all of their pieces off the board, you win!

One tricky part of the game is that there are boundary lines on the board, which you're not allowed to cross. If you do cross the line, you lose points.

Another important rule is that you have to hit your opponent's pieces in a certain way. You can't just bump into them and hope they fall off the board. Instead, you have to hit them from the side, so they flip over and land on their heads. Then you can move your rover onto the space where their rover was.

Roque might seem complicated at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's a lot of fun!
