ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Rose Revolution

Imagine you and your friends want to change the way things are done in your neighborhood. You all want to make it a better and more fair place to live in. This is what happened in a country called Georgia back in 2003. The people who lived there weren't happy with the way their government was treating them, so they decided to do something about it.

They all wore the color pink and went out on the streets, holding peaceful protests with roses in their hands. That's why it's called the "Rose Revolution". They wanted to show that they were peaceful and didn't want to fight or hurt anyone. They just wanted to be heard and have a say in how their country was run.

The people who were in charge at the time didn't like this and tried to stop the protests. But the people were determined and kept coming out, day after day, until they finally succeeded in making big changes. They were able to convince the government to hold new elections, which were fair and free of corruption. They also made sure that the new leaders were people who really cared about the country and its citizens.

So basically, the Rose Revolution was a time when the people of Georgia came together to make their country a better and fairer place to live in. They did this by peacefully protesting and standing up for what they believed in, and they were successful in making some really important changes.
