The Royal Indian Navy Mutiny was a big event that happened in India in 1946. It was a rebellion by sailors in the Royal Indian Navy (RIN) who were angry about their treatment by the British officers in charge. The sailors were upset that they had to work long hours with little pay, and that they were not getting the same rights as their British counterparts. The mutiny spread quickly across the fleet of ships and ports, and eventually the revolt included 78 ships and 20,000 sailors. The British government eventually gave in to some of the sailors' demands, and the rebellion ended with a victory for the Indian sailors. It paved the way for independence from Britain and helped to ensure that India's navy became strong and independent.
