ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Royal we

When someone says "we", they usually mean themselves and at least one other person. But when someone important like a king or queen says "we", they are not just talking about themselves and another person. Instead, they are using a fancy way to refer to themselves alone. This is called the "royal we". It's like they are pretending to be more than one person because they are so important. It's kind of like when a little kid says "we" instead of "I" because they want to sound more grown-up. So, when a king or queen uses the "royal we", it's just a way to sound fancy and important.
