ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Rufus of Thebes

Rufus of Thebes was a man who lived a very long time ago in ancient Greece. He was famous for being a doctor and writing books about medicine.

Now, you know how when you get sick or hurt yourself, you go to the doctor to get better? Well, in ancient Greece, Rufus was one of the most famous and important doctors. People would go to him when they were sick, and he would examine them and figure out what was wrong with them. Then, he would give them medicine or tell them what they needed to do to get better.

Rufus was really good at his job, and he knew a lot about the human body. He wrote many books about medicine, which meant that other people who wanted to be doctors could learn from him too. He told people all about how the different parts of the body work and what to do if something goes wrong.

Even though Rufus lived a long, long time ago, his books about medicine are still important today. Many people still read them and learn from them, which just goes to show how much of an impact he had on the world!
