Okay kiddo, so a long time ago in Windsor (a city in Canada), people were not allowed to sell or drink alcohol because the government said it was bad. But some people still wanted to drink and have a good time, so they found a way to get alcohol from another country called the United States.
They would use boats to secretly bring alcohol across the river and into Canada. This was called rum-running because a lot of the alcohol they brought was rum – a type of drink made from sugar.
The people who did this were called rum-runners, and they were very sneaky. They would hide the alcohol so nobody could see it, and they would sail to different places along the river to make sure nobody caught them.
But even though it was against the law, a lot of people still wanted to drink, so the rum-runners made a lot of money. They were like secret delivery people, but instead of delivering pizza or mail, they delivered alcohol!
Eventually, the government changed the law and people were allowed to drink and sell alcohol again. So the rum-running stopped and became a funny and interesting story from a long time ago.
