ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Runaway train

Okay kiddo, let me explain what a runaway train is in a way that is easy for you to understand. Imagine you are playing with your toy train set, and you've set the train on the tracks. Normally, you can control the train by pushing buttons or a remote that tells it where to go and how fast to go. But what happens if you accidentally bump the train really hard and it goes flying off the tracks? Now it's moving on its own and you can't control it anymore. That's kind of what happens with a runaway train.

A runaway train is a train that is moving without anyone controlling it. It could happen for a lot of different reasons, like if the train's brakes fail, or if there's something on the tracks that makes it go too fast. Just like with your toy train, when a real train is moving on its own, it's really dangerous. It could crash into things or hurt people.

People who work with trains are really careful to make sure the trains don't run away. They have special systems to help stop the train if something goes wrong, and they have people watching and controlling the train at all times. But sometimes accidents happen, and if a train starts moving on its own, it's a really big problem that needs to be dealt with quickly!
