Runoff footprint

Runoff footprint is a measure of how polluted water from rain, runoff and snowmelt is on land. It measures the effect of pollutants that runoff from roads, farms and other developments in a watershed can have on the environment. Pollutants can include chemicals or bacteria, and they can make the water unsafe to drink or swim in. Runoff footprint helps give an overall picture of how bad the pollution is in a certain area.
