Russia–Ukraine relations
Russia and Ukraine are two countries that are neighbors. Even though they share a border they don't always get along. Russia and Ukraine used to be a single country, the Soviet Union, but back in 1991 they were split into two different countries.
Since then, the two countries haven't always had the best relationship. Russia has wanted Ukraine to be friendly with them and to have close relations, but in 2014 Ukraine made a decision to have closer ties to Europe instead of Russia. This didn't make Russia very happy, and since then the two countries have fought a lot. The fighting hasn't stopped and the two countries still don't get along very well.
