Okay kiddo, so you know how sometimes you take tests or quizzes on the computer for school? Well, SCORM is a special way that the computer and the teachers can talk to each other to make sure you learn everything you're supposed to in those quizzes and tests.
When your teacher puts together a quiz or lesson for you on the computer, they use something called a “learning management system” (LMS) to create it. Then, they can use SCORM to make sure that the quiz or lesson works properly and that you can actually learn what you need to learn from it.
SCORM stands for Sharable Content Object Reference Model. It's like a set of rules that tell the computer and the teacher what to do when they work together to help you learn. So when you take a quiz, the computer and teacher use SCORM to make sure you answer each question correctly before you can move on to the next one.
It's kind of like how you have to learn each letter before you can put them all together to read a word, and each word before you can put them all together to read a sentence. SCORM helps make sure you learn everything in the right order so you can learn everything you need to know.
